Our story
Born in the sheds and built for the streets, Something of Substance is a streetwear label rooted in the raw beauty of the Australian wool industry. Founded by Tom - a student of agriculture, shearer, and lifelong wool enthusiast - the brand champions slow fashion and celebrates the journey from farm to fashion.
The brand was born in Western QLD on Catumnal Station whilst working away for a practical year of university. The vision of the brand is to educates its followers on the natural advantages of wool for the consumer and the environment, leading a self-sustainable lifestyle, also incorporating in the shearing sheds and the characters/cultures within to blend it in with the city steeze (city to country contrast).
Made from 18-micron Merino wool, sourced from Australian growers and spun in Italy, each jumper is knitted by Sue McClure on her and her husband sheep property in Harrow, Victoria. It’s a high-quality, low-impact piece that embodies sustainability, style, and storytelling.
Something of Substance is more than a garment, it’s a movement and a way of life. It’s about educating people on wool’s unmatched qualities, rejecting the churn of fast fashion, and wearing your values with pride.
Wool to the streets.

The logo
The logo, a shearing handpiece screwdriver reimagined as the letter “F,” speaks to the grit behind every garment.
